Christ possessed the unique joy and privilege of revealing God in this manner to those aware of his messianic calling. Charles Spurgeon says, “If any man of woman born might have lived without prayer it was surely the Lord Jesus Christ.”2 Rather, should we not maintain the exact opposite? While it is true that we, who have remaining sin, need to pray, there was a necessity placed upon Christ to pray because of his natural relation to the Father. Likewise, the powerful indwelling of the Spirit provoked
